Course Description:
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practices of crop production. It covers the essential aspects of growing field and horticultural crops, including soil preparation, seed selection, sowing techniques, irrigation, nutrient and pest management, harvesting, and post-harvest handling. Emphasis is placed on sustainable and modern agricultural practices, crop rotation, integrated farming systems, and the use of technology in crop monitoring and yield optimization.
Students will gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills through classroom instruction and field exercises. The course also introduces key concepts in agroecology, climate-smart agriculture, and the socio-economic factors affecting crop production systems.
